What is Account Recovery?

Account recovery is the process of restoring consumer access to an entitlement (content) by generating a recovery URL that allows tee consumer to relink or regain access to their account. The Account Recovery API allows a reseller to recover or unlink a consumer’s account associated with an entitlement using the following endpoint.

The request requires two mandatory parameters:
  • resellerKey — a static identifier representing the reseller within the Bango platform
  • requestType — specifies the operation to perform and must be either:
    • ACCOUNT_RECOVERY
    • ACCOUNT_UNLINK
Account recovery can only be performed when the entitlement is in a valid state. If the entitlement is not eligible for recovery, the API returns an HTTP 409 response with:
  • INVALID_STATE
  • "The entitlement is not in the correct state to be recovered"
When an account is successfully unlinked, the entitlement is no longer associated with the consumer’s account. As a result, the consumer may lose access to the entitlement until an account recovery action is completed. Conversely, a linked entitlement is associated with a merchant customer account and remains accessible to the customer.
