This page describes the ways a reseller can configure an Offer plan in the Digital Vending Machine® (DVM™). The plan configuration determines:
  • The type of Offer
  • The Offer duration and whether renews
  • The Offer’s Billing schedule for the consumer
  • How the DVM handles Charges & Refunds for your Offer
Billing & Charging is an optional DVM capability. When enabled, the DVM uses the Offer’s Plan configuration to fully automate the charging for all end-consumers provisioned with your Offer.

The plan configurations

Use a Subscription plan when the Offer should continue until it is canceled. This configuration:
  • Creates a recurring Offer lifecycle
  • Allows one or more phases, such as free trial to paid
  • Continues into an evergreen final phase with no end date
  • Supports recurring billing based on the renewal frequency of the active phase
Plan pattern: One or more phases, with the final phase having no duration.

How the plan affects lifecycle and billing

The lifecycle start trigger still controls when the plan begins. For example, billing can begin when the consumer Offer is fully created or only after all entitlements are fully activated.

Plan configuration summary

This approach keeps Offer setup simple: the reseller defines the plan, and the DVM uses that plan to control lifecycle behavior, billing schedule, and optional charging.
